Home Sweet Loan The Musical, presented by Visinema and Indonesia Kaya in collaboration with Jakarta Art House, premiered at the Graha Bhakti Budaya stage at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta. Staged over 23 performances from September 30 to October 18, 2026, the musical invites audiences to discover a new meaning of "coming home" through Kaluna’s journey, brought to life through a blend of storytelling, music, choreography, and acting in a unified performance.

Adapted from the novel by Almira Bastari, Kaluna’s journey is known as a struggle to own a home of her own. Home Sweet Loan The Musical takes this story a step further, posing a more personal question: When someone finally possesses a space of their own, where—and with whom—do they truly feel they can come home?

Kaluna’s journey invites the audience to see that "home" can hold different meanings at various stages of life. It can be a place of residence, a sanctuary sought for safety, and a repository for memories, conflicts, responsibilities, and relationships with loved ones.

“Home Sweet Loan The Musical draws upon a story that deeply resonates with many people, when family, responsibility, the pressures of life, and the dream of homeownership come down to one story. Through this production, we invite the audience to reflect on life’s journey. At the same time, this production reflects Indonesia Kaya’s commitment to strengthening the musical theater ecosystem through cross-industry collaboration and talent development. The involvement of talent from diverse backgrounds demonstrates that musical productions can serve as a space for mutual learning, collaboration, and growth. We hope that Home Sweet Loan The Musical not only entertains and remains relevant to audiences but also creates opportunities for Indonesian talent to continue creating, while fostering a broader appreciation for the performing arts,” said Billy Gamaliel, Program Manager at Indonesia Kaya.

The development of this ecosystem is reflected in the involvement of talent from diverse backgrounds in the production. In addition to the 37 cast members, two actors playing Kaluna, 11 other cast members, and 24 ensemble members. Home Sweet Loan The Musical involves over 50 creative professionals working behind the scenes to bring the show to life.

For Visinema, the musical adaptation of Home Sweet Loan continues Kaluna’s story, which has previously been told through a novel and a film. This shift in medium offers an opportunity to explore the narrative through the language of the stage: acting, music, choreography, and the live presence of performers before an audience.

Kaluna’s journey takes shape through the complementary blend of music and choreography. A curated selection of 18 songs, such as Kembali Pulang, Kapan Pulang, Memang Milikku, and many more. These songs will guide the audience through the evolution of Kaluna’s perception of "home" and her life’s path. Meanwhile, choreography by El Haq Latief and Nudiandra Sarasvati translates the rhythm of Jakarta life and urban pressures into movement, notably through Tepuk Waras and the kinetic visuals of Riuh Jakarta. This fusion of music and movement ensures that Kaluna’s struggles are conveyed not only through dialogue but are also palpably felt through the atmosphere and the language of the stage.
