To mark the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, SariWangi, Indonesia’s No. 1 tea brand, invites everyone to celebrate the spirit of independence through the “Waktunya Ngeteh Indonesia” (It’s Time for Indonesian Tea) campaign. This celebration invites the Indonesian people to enjoy a cup of SariWangi tea while celebrating the diversity that has united the nation for decades.
SariWangi has been a part of countless moments of togetherness for Indonesians since 1973. Always taking part as a warm companion, from personal moments to warm conversations with friends and family to celebrations of special occasions. Inspired by this spirit, SariWangi presents a series of “Waktunya Ngeteh Indonesia” activities that convey the message that although Indonesia has diverse cultures, traditions, and ways of celebrating independence, the entire nation is united in taste. This spirit also marks a new chapter for SariWangi as part of the Savoria Group, an Indonesian-owned company, since March 2026.

“Waktunya Ngeteh Indonesia” celebration is part of a series of events dedicated to Indonesia’s independence, featuring various activities that engage communities from across Indonesia. To celebrate the spirit of Gotong Royong (community cooperation), SariWangi is hosting the “Waktunya Ngeteh Indonesia” Gapura Decoration Contest. It will be held in 178 neighborhoods selected from approximately 500 entries received from various regions across Indonesia. The winners will receive a grant of 1 million rupiah as well as special support in the form of branding and games to liven up the August 17 celebrations. In addition to the prize, all participants will also receive SariWangi products. The three grand prize winners and ten favorite winners will receive a total of 17 million rupiah in prizes. Other than that, SariWangi also held Independence Day celebrations at two of its partner plantations in Central Java and wrapped the festivities with a celebration at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) called “Pesta Rakyat SariWangi”. This event will be the highlight of a series of celebrations taking place August 15–17, 2026. The public is invited to enjoy a variety of activities typical of Independence Day celebrations, including cultural parades, Hirux races, entertainment, and the chance to savor a refreshing cup of SariWangi tea with family and friends.
As part of the celebrations for Indonesia’s Independence Day, SariWangi has released a video titled “Waktunya Ngeteh Indonesia,” which showcases the diverse traditions of Independence Day celebrations across various regions of Indonesia. Although celebrated in different ways, the entire community remains united by a spirit of togetherness, with SariWangi there to accompany every moment.

SariWangi Brand Manager Irene Limantara said, “Independence is a moment that unites all of Indonesian society. Although it is celebrated in different ways, the spirit remains the same. Through the ‘Waktunya Ngeteh Indonesia’ celebration, we want to invite the public to celebrate this diversity in a simple yet meaningful way. From hometowns and neighborhoods to the plantations that are home to Indonesia’s tea farmers. For more than 53 years, SariWangi has been a part of many moments of togetherness for the Indonesian people, and we are proud to continue accompanying them on this journey.”
Through the “Waktunya Ngeteh Indonesia” celebration, as Indonesia’s No. 1 tea brand, SariWangi hopes to continue inspiring the public to celebrate diversity in the spirit of Indonesian Independence and Unity.
