Lensa Sinema Melati is an initiative by students of LSPR’s Public Relations and Digital Communication class aimed at raising youth awareness of filmmaking while introducing Kampung Sinema as a film-based creative community.
As part of the pre-event series, the students organized a social media campaign, a Digital Content Creation & Cinematography Workshop, and a Content Creation Competition. These activities involved members of Karang Taruna Kampung Sinema and students from SMKN 38 Jakarta, with a total of 30 participants. Through the workshop and competition, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of digital content creation, storytelling, and cinematography, while also helping strengthen Kampung Sinema’s digital presence as a creative community.

Ade Maulana Sidik, the head of Kampung Cinema, said, “We were happy to be helped by the workshop.” Our members learned about content creation and cinematography, and they had the opportunity to showcase their work in film competitions. We appreciate the learning modules and websites as well as our information site.”
The highlighted event, held on June 27, was organized by Main Event Lensa Sinema Melati. Attendees included Bapak Nurhidayat, the Assistant for Administration and People’s Welfare of the Central Jakarta City Administration, as well as a representative from the Central Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-department. Thirty Abang None Central Jakarta finalists were also present, demonstrating their support for the development of a film-based creative community.
In his remarks, Bapak Nurhidayat reaffirmed the Central Jakarta Administration’s commitment to supporting community-driven creative spaces such as Kampung Sinema Kebon Melati. Moreover, Chrestella, Head of the Lensa Sinema Melati program, expressed hope that the program would encourage young people to be more confident in exploring their potential in film and digital content creation, while also helping Kampung Sinema gain wider public recognition.

The event continued with an exhibition showcasing the program journey and
the community’s creative works, followed by a film discussion session featuring practitioners
and industry players who shared insights into the filmmaking process.
It concluded with a Panggung Apresiasi (appreciation stage), where participants’ works were presented, and awards were given to the top three projects in recognition of their creativity and storytelling skills.
As a program aimed at raising youth awareness of and interest in filmmaking, Lensa Sinema Melati aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. Through workshops, content creation competitions, and film discussion sessions, participants gained direct exposure to the world of film. Post-event activities included social media documentation, participation in the Communication Festival (COMMFEST), and media publications. Overall, Lensa Sinema Melati is expected to advance Indonesian cinema by introducing Kampung Sinema to a wider audience and inspiring more young people to pursue careers in film.
