On the last day of January, The Nusantara Bulletin joined in the festivities of Urun Daya Kota, a Non-Governmental Organization focused on inclusive urban development, that took place in none other than Taman Ismail Marzuki. For their 3rd anniversary, Urun Daya Kota decided to feature their infamous The City Meetup as the grand theme. By using this theme, they encourage the public to recognize, understand, and determine the city’s future direction. Cities, Explained! and The 2026 City Outlook are the two main events of the City Meetup, which is intended as a forum for collective learning and introspection. The main objective is to raise public awareness of urban issues and facilitate cross-sector discussion about the future of cities.
The event started in Wahyu Sihombing Theater, greeted by a sunny day. The crowds were starting to fill the theatre, and the excitement for both the photobooth and the Transjakarta free ride was starting to get crowded. Everybody was enjoying themselves by participating in the activities such as forums, games, eating, and getting to know other organization booths available. There are several booths such as Forum Diskusi Transportasi Jakarta, Silang, Wonderwhy SEA, Sahabat Gizi, Jalur Medina, Sporadies, and Remotivi. Each of these booths offers various, unique focuses that metropolises like Jakarta would love to participate in or even explore.

The forum event, Cerita dari Kota, brought two panels titled “Media, Activations, and Where The Citizen Hangs Out,” which concerned bringing together representatives from the media, community, and other city residents to discuss the role of space and residents in energizing the city. And the other panel, titled “Building Cities, Growing Communities,” had a purpose for bringing together representatives of policymakers, think tanks, implementers, and other city residents to discuss urban development as a means for community activities.
The last event of the day was called City Meetup Before Sunset. This is where the participants were gathered into three groups. For this event, private groups were invited to take part. For the first segment of the event, they did a quiz about cities across Indonesia. To answer each question, the groups were given three clues about the prospective cities. Then, a forum called Curhat Kota. In this segment, members from each group shared their own experiences in the city. Then the last segment, a karaoke session where the groups were told to guess and sing Indonesian Songs together with Sobat Healing.
